Izzy Iatarola is a music therapist (MT-BC) and guitar teacher based in New York City.

Izzy studied Music Therapy at Berklee College of Music (BA 2015) and spent the following decade doing clinical work in the Bay Area, most recently on the inpatient unit at UCSF’s Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital (2021–25). They have also worked with neurodivergent youth, geriatric residents in memory care programs, and patients recovering from traumatic brain injuries.

A classically trained guitarist, Izzy blends the precision of contemporary music theory with intuitive healing work in their solo projects and teaching alike. Their performances and EPs (bandcamp)—which layer guitar, voice, and percussion over environmental sound samples and recordings from personal archives—build on their studies of classical, jazz, and folk traditions and draw inspiration from artists like Bill Frisell, Odetta, and Arthur Russell. They recently taught guitar, piano, and voice as the spring 2025 Music Instructor in residence at Deep Springs College.
